RESPONSIBILITIES:The successful applicant will collaboratively work with Therapeutic Area biology metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, Immunology and Oncology diseases, Toxicology, and Clinical Discovery groups within the BMS Research and Development. He or she will use their advanced knowledge of Biology, Computer Science and Statistics to validate drug targets and drug candidates in the BMS discovery and development pipeline using cutting edge bioinformatics and genomics technologies. Responsibilities also include establishing and maintaining close collaborative relationships with other groups in R&D and educating biologists across the PRI in the use of Genomic methods and tools.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in the Natural Sciences with 3 plus years postdoctoral or other relevant experience. Although an advanced degree in biology is not absolutely required, extensive experience working in a biological framework is necessary. Strong written and oral communication skills are necessary. The applicant must have a clear record of both initiative and collaborative skills. Also required are extensive bioinformatics and programming skills, particularly in the areas of Perl, Unix Linux, relational databases, gene and sequence analysis, RNA profiling analysis and related disciplines, statistics and application to design of experiments and analysis. Particular experience in the areas of metabolic and cardiovascular disease drug discovery is a definite plus. A record of scientific rigor and innovation in the areas of RNA, Protein, and Metabolite profiling as well as pathway and network analysis is desirable.
