RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designs and develops optimized/cross-platform user interface in CSS,  HTML, JavaScript, and AJAX.
- Develops prototypes, mock-ups, storyboards, and provides HCI (Human-Computer interaction) design support for various web and scientific applications.
- Designs, implements and maintains n-tiered applications supporting scientific research and cutting edge data visualization using Web.
- Works cooperatively with other staff to achieve Venter Institute’s research goals. 

REQUIREMENTS:
- BS or MS in computer science or software engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years experience in GUI development and data visualization in web or scientific applications using HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX and Flash.
- Ability to collaborate across a multi-disciplinary team, and work independently.

PREFERENCES:
- Knowledge and experience of Java, JSP, Spring/Struts, Tiles and Servlets.
- Bioinformatics experience or significant experience in other complex scientific domain
- Experience with Asynchronous and Service Oriented Architectures/Web Services
Swing, Applets, Flash, XML, SQL, Perl-cgi, C/C++
- Web Server or J2EE Application Server experience, specifically Tomcat or JBoss
- Development in mixed environment of Windows and Linux.
